Sunset Cliffs Engagement at Blue Hour
Haylee and Matt’s engagement session at Sunset Cliffs felt like pure California magic from start to finish. Visiting from New Orleans, these two brought such an easy, joyful energy to the coast—completely soaking in the ocean breeze, golden light, and those iconic cliffside views. We timed their session for sunset, and it did not disappoint. The sky lit up in the dreamiest warm tones, wrapping everything in that soft glow that makes you want to bottle the moment and keep it forever.
But the real magic happened after the sun dipped below the horizon. We stayed just a little longer to catch “blue hour”—that short, fleeting window right after sunset where the sky turns the most incredible shades of deep blue. Despite the name, blue hour is really only about 10–15 minutes, and it’s so worth it. The light becomes soft, moody, and almost cinematic, and Haylee and Matt absolutely leaned into it. Those final moments gave us some of the most stunning, intimate photos of the entire session—romantic, calm, and effortlessly beautiful.
These two are the kind of couple that make my job feel easy. Whether they were laughing together on the cliffs or wrapped up in each other as the sky turned blue, every moment felt genuine and natural. I already know their wedding in Mexico is going to be something truly special, and I feel so lucky to have captured this chapter for them here on the California coast.
